The main theme of this study is to apply a production model for the assembly “Model ATO (Assembly to order)” and the object of the study is the assembly line of the alternators product, evaluating the advantages and difficulties for the implementation of this model. The search for productivity is a common objective for companies, in order to reduce production costs over the years, intense globalization is being experienced. The aim of the product is to meet the expectations of the end customer in quality, cost and delivery, with the high competition the dispute for organizations in the market space has been decided in detail. Some relevant points that were addressed as objectives of this study applying methodologies and concepts of production systems to reduce time to deliver the final product (lead time) optimizing the planning for delivery to the customer, as generally the delivery time after the customer demand is three weeks, the challenge is to apply tools that prevent rework of disassembling machines that are already in stock, this is due to the need to change finished equipment to remove parts to assemble a customer demand, due to the lack of right parts in stocks, and the third is how to reduce the stock of final alternator items. The study showed good potential with the new production model for the effectiveness of production control and positive impact on stock, but difficulties were also identified for the implementation of this method.
