Abstract

The research presented below, aims to analyze the importance of SESMT - Specialized Safety Engineering and Occupational Medicine in companies as agents of prevention and health promotion work. This service may be formed by various professionals in the fields of engineering or medicine, the research was conducted in a number of companies in various economic activities, observing compliance of regulatory norms or not, NR 1 and NR 11, the Ministry Labour and Employment, this standard aims to provide the basic requirements for minimum or even that workers can work in conditions free of accidents or occupational diseases. The methodology used was the application of 02 questionnaires, one to check the fulfillment of NR 1 and NR for another 11. The main results were that in all the companies that had SESMT professionals, surveyed the rules were being followed. Thus it was concluded that where there is presence of these professionals, regulatory standards are being applied and researched is occurring to prevent accidents and occupational diseases.
