The purpose of this paper was to evaluate the efficiency of the ozonization process in the treatment of a textile effluent, from an industry located in the city of Cianorte, Paraná. Five ozonization tests were carried with air flow set at 4 L.min-1 , for sixty minutes. The physicochemical parameters analysed were liquid temperature, pH, turbidity, true color, apparent color, concentration of organic matter (in terms of raw COD and filtered COD), total suspended solids and total solids, of the affluent and of the treated effluent. The results indicated that ozonization presented 37,4% for removal of turbidity, 60,6% for true color, 52,2% for apparent color, 70,0% for raw COD, 70,7% for filtered COD, 4,1% for total solids and 31,0% for total suspended solids. The results of color and COD were adjusted in the kinetic models of the 1st and 2nd order to obtain the apparent kinetic constants. The experimental results of apparent color and true color in the tests were best fitted to the kinetic model of first order, second order was more suitable for raw COD and first order for filtered COD. It was concluded that this technology for the wastewater treatment was effective in the removal of true color, apparent color, raw COD and filtered COD, presenting itself as a viable alternative to be used in textile industries as treatment.
