dc.description.abstractThis case study aimed to evaluate, characterize and optimize the effluent treatment station of a water-based paints and complements industry, located in the city of Londrina, aiming at the reuse of the clarified effluent. Bench tests were performed using the Jar test to optimize the pH and the coagulant / flocculant dosages. In addition, a filling was also proposed for the filtration / adsorption process, using activated carbon and dolomite of varying mesh. The industrial scale test with an effluent with COD of 5270 mg / L, BOD of 1735.58 mg / L, pH 7.02; > 500 PtCo / L, 21200 NTU and DFZ>300 for all analyzed wavelengths showed promising results, because after the proposed treatment, the following parameters were achieved: COD 125 mg / L, BOD 42 mg / L, noticeable reduction of odor, 5.32 PtCo / L, 4.26 NTU and DFZ of 2.10; 1.50 and 2.00 for wavelengths of 436, 525 and 620 nm respectively. The clarified wastewater met what was specified in the legislation on quality parameters for wastewater releases in all parameters evaluated in this study. Thus, it was proposed to use water from wastewater treatment to wash the factory floor and use it in discharges, thus reducing the consumption of drinking water in these processes.
