dc.description.abstractTThis work had as thematic "Grammar: A diagnostic approach in Elementary Education" was motivated by new proposals for grammatical approach presented by several authors specialized in issues related to this practice. The central objective is to ensure that the teaching of grammar if grammar teaching grade 8/9 years of basic education is in line with the Curriculum Guidelines Portuguese Paraná and many other authors or the teacher continues teaching structures and nomenclatures in isolation. For answering this question, we made a literature that would show how to teach grammar defended today, among the authors: Travaglia (2009) Perini (2005), Mendoza (2004) etc. Also A questionnaire was prepared for such teaching to a teacher of 8th grade / year 9 and responding stages of observation conducted in the classroom. The conclusion of this research has proved rewarding, because even though the teacher pointing out inconsistencies between his concept of teaching and practice, the method of teaching points to changes satisfactory, since the teacher works through reflection grammatical genders. The way that this teacher discusses their classes according to the approaches and methods placed for teaching grammar in the classroom, through genres.
