dc.description.abstractIn this master thesis we present a new relay selection algorithm using fuzzy logic. The proposed algorithm is distributed, runs independently at each node, not requiring a central entity for coordination, and is multi-objective, since it aims to maximize both network lifetime and end-to-end throughput. The new method takes into account the instantaneous channel state of the relay-destination link and the residual energy of the node battery. As a result, the algorithm assigns a degree of relevance to each relay, such that the with a higher relevance is chosen to forward the source message. Results show that a considerable increase in the network lifetime can be obtained without compromising the end-to-end throughput.
