The valorization of popular culture and the inclusion of themes such as popular wisdom has gained great prominence in the teaching of different areas of knowledge. Thus, the present work aims to highlight potentialities, for the formation of a critical and participative citizen, that may exist in the approach of the popular knowledge of domestic cooking in the Teaching of Chemistry, through the collection of articles on the theme, identification of the scientific knowledge that underlies them, and evaluation of the potential of this material for Scientific and Technological Literacy. For this purpose, articles published on the internet that dealt with popular wisdom home cooking tips and tricks were collected through the Google search platform, aiming to integrate technologies and outofschool knowledge. It is understood that both are extremely relevant in the teaching and learning process, as they encompass precepts of Scientific Literacy and the possibility of articulation with the Teaching of Chemistry. It was found, throughout the work, that the analyzed material constitutes an excellent resource for a more contextualized teaching and learning process, which encourages critical thinking, decision making, and issuing value judgments, meeting the requirements proposed by ACT and official documents, being applicable at various levels of education.
