dc.description.abstractTeaching is an old profession and has been losing its prestige due to the devaluation of the career and health and safety problems of the work to which it is submitted, being considered by the International Labor Organization (ILO) a risk activity. Such difficulties lead, as a consequence, to occupational diseases and withdrawals. This study aimed to identify some of the ergonomic disorders that teachers suffer and to recommend ways of minimizing the risks involved. The methodology used was a bibliographic research and the application of the Preliminary Risk Analysis (APR) in elementary school teachers II. There were 15 different risks to the function, such as musculoskeletal pain, varicose veins, low back pain and LER/DOR. The osteomuscular risks in the shoulder of the dominant arm, such as rotator cuff syndrome, and laryngeal and vocal cord diseases, are considered the most critical. APR has been shown to be an important tool for identifying ergonomic risks, thus making it possible to alert about the main health problems inherent to the activities of elementary school teachers.
