The functional training has been adding in the physical preparation of athletes and non-athletes, since it is a modality that does not require such a large number of devices when compared to modalities such as Resistance Training, Pilates or even Crossfit. In this way, functional training becomes efficient and accessible, with its basic fundamentals (running, jumping, changing direction and balance) to the general public and high-performance athletes. The objective of the present study was to analyze the effects of functional training on dancers as part of their physical preparation. The specific objectives are: To identify the physical and choreographic needs of the dancer; apply the training based on the physical and choreographic needs of the dancer; and to compare the physical fitness indicators applied before and after interference. In order to achieve the objectives described above, the fundamentals of functional training for three months, with a frequency of three times weekly, were used in a professional athlete of the salsa soloist lady pro modality, with more than 5 years of experience in the modality, from her choreography. Since the main objective is to improve and improve the efficiency of the movements that the athlete performs within his choreography. With this, the research becomes a case study. To compare if the interferences of the training caused effects, for this study, a battery of tests was used: Vertical Impulse, Horizontal Impulsion, Shuttle Run, Abdominal Force, 20m Shuttle. In addition, evaluations were also applied to qualify technical criteria for choreography, such as: Technique, Originality, Musicality, Rhythm and Choreography. Both tests and choreographic evaluation aimed to measure the motor, physiological and choreographic abilities of the athlete before and after functional training interventions. This research fits into the longitudinal research modality and case study. And after data collection, before and after the interventions proposed within the fundamentals of functional training, it was possible to verify the change in the results of the physical tests of the athlete with gains of 11.4%, 1.4%, 3.3% , 22.2%, 34.6% in the “Vertical Impulse”, “Horizontal Impulse”, “Shuttle Run”, “Abdominal Force” and “20m Shuttle” tests. As for the notes given to the criteria “Technique”, “Originality”, “Musicality”, “Rhythm” and “Choreography” which together increased 12.5 points in the choreographic evaluations performed with the dancer.
