This paper presents the modelling and numeric simulation of a synchronous machine. This approach represents an alternative method of analytic simulation of electromagnetic devices, especially when the device has complex geometries that makes difficult the analytic methods approach. The electrical machines modelling using numeric methods offers significant benefits: exemption of instrumentation platforms used to perform assays, it makes possible the simulation and analysis of various electromagnetic devices under any values of tension and current, it enables the geometry modification of the electromagnetic device without modifying the formulas, it makes possible the observation of electromagnetic fields and fluxes on the through the materials and allows the observation of regions were the field intensity is high or low, to the point of identifying regions of saturation and high temperatures. All these factors make it possible the electromagnetic flux analysis, and the information gathered can be used to improve and/or optimization of future projects. The proposed motor modelling uses the finite elements method in 2D. The circuits simulation is based on the topologic circuits theory. The field and circuit equations are solved simultaneously.
