dc.description.abstract | The roof's main function is to protect the building against weather and it is basically made of a structure and the tiles. Its structure is usually made of steel and wood, which can be both native legalized woods and reforestation, which meet the requirements of the market. The tiles have a wide variety, depending on the location where it is commercialized. Thus, this paper discusses theoretically and conceptually this subject and studies solutions, varying the gaps of the scissors and the kinds of tiles for wooden roofing, making a comparison related to the amount of material, finding constructive solutions that reduce the amount of material used and consequently the cost of the final product. Considering a conventional roof of a house, with three tile models and three gap sizes, it could be observed the differences on the acting forces on the roof structure and on the amount of wood consumed. Analyzing the studied models, the variations between the systems interfere significantly on the amount of wood consumed, where the roof composed of metal shingle showed higher differences on the wood volumes and on the efforts calculation, with advantage over models with ceramic tile and shingle tile. | |
