This study's main objective is to highlight the use of Emotional Intelligence as an important tool in the constant pursuit of successful contemporary professional. This monograph is intended to allow the understanding of how the concept of "being smart" evolved after the work of psychologist Daniel Goleman, who managed to spread to the dumb idea that intelligence to be complete, must take into consideration the emotions. This is a literature review on the topic Emotional Intelligence with organizational approach that presents the reasons why more and more emotions are taking a larger space in the corporate world and as individuals, are now inserted in the labor market, may acquire, develop and practice this skill in order to promote their professional performance. Concluded that only the Intelligence Quotient (IQ) alone is not sufficient to leverage both careers, and for the development of organizations.
