dc.description.abstractThis paper describes the use of IEC 61850 in the typical functions of Electric Power Substations. Some aspects of the IEC 61850 with its main features, as well as a proposal for modernization of power substations, believing that it represents a decisive factor for the growth and modernization of the operating company. The goal is to bring a study of some key features of implementation of IEC 61850, detailing parts and components to clarify the structure and functioning.
