dc.description.abstractThe discovery of new active molecules depends on exhaustive tests aimed at screening the microbial diversity of different environments, withItaipuLake being little studied in this regard. The aim of the study was to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of alkalinity isolates obtained from water samples from Itaipu Lake against some pathogens of agronomic and clinical interest. 16 alkaline isolates were obtained, of which 14 were submitted to antimicrobial tests. Most of the antagonistic activity was verified against B. cereus. Among the studied isolates, 43% showed antagonistic activity. The present study can demonstrate that there are several unstudied microorganisms existing in the most diverse environments, in this case, in a lake, which can be studied, isolated and used in the treatment of infections and diseases.
