dc.description.abstractThis study aims to assess the technical feasibility of deploying a wireless network to ten computers in the department's project of UTFPR (Federal Technological University of Paraná). Besides the technical feasibility, we intend to conduct a survey of costs of wireless network and a costs assessment of a wired network designed to meet the same computers, in order to compare costs. We also intend to compare the performance of wireless network with the wired network performance, by measuring the two networks traffic's speed. The wireless network will be deployed based on IEEE 802.11g standard topology is it’s infrastructured. For the wireless network, will address the main modulation and multiplexing techniques, some techniques for medium access control, some frequency scattering techniques and some safety techniques. Other wireless network standards, proposed by the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers), based on the original 802.11 standard, will also be discussed. It appears that the wireless network performs well when traffic is low or when the number of computers on the network is small. The main advantage of wireless over wired network is the mobility, in addition to lower implementation costs. However, for large traffic demands, it appears that the wired network is still the best option, which could be proven by this study.
