dc.description.abstractThis project presents a quantitative analysis of harmonic current distortion injected in the electrical grid by LED lamps predominant in Brazilian households, comparing them to the IEC 61000-3-2 standard. From the definition of harmonics and how they are generated, the most employed indicators of harmonic distortion are addressed. The generic topology of an LED lamp and some of the available filtering options are discussed, qualitatively and through simulations. Data obtained through measurements of a sample of lamps selected for this study is presented. At last, measured data is compared to standards and regulations on the subject.
