dc.description.abstractThe dynamic behavior of a gyroscope is quite peculiar. When the gyro is under the influence of external torques, it presents some behaviors as nutation and precession, which is the focus of this work. In order to illustrate the theory by practical means, we sought to study, model and design a didactic case with the capability to emulate the movement of precession. This work is a detailed dimensioning of the rotor to be used through modal analysis and knowledge of machine design. The selected rotor is aluminum, with the box that surrounds and gives the format briefcase, being transparent acrylic material, with metal edges for their support and the quick coupling for transmitting torque to the axis.
