The thermal design present in this work presents a solution for the calculation of the heat transfer area required for a mixed boiler to produce 2000 kgv/hr at a pressure of 10 kgf/cm2, fueled by wood in eucalyptus logs. Calculations of combustion energy, furnace parameters and fixed grate are present. Also mentioned are flow calculations of feed air and flue gases, as well as the determination of their temperatures along the boiler. From the heat transfer, calculations of irradiation are made in the furnace (water tube), convection and gas radiation in the tubular bundles (fire tube). Finally, an energy balance is made to compare the energy distribution in the boiler parts and the influence of the analyzed heat transfer modes.
