dc.description.abstractThis work had as its theme the cognitive development in children’s education through play. In children’s education, teachers approach various methodologies in the classroom for the cognitive advancement of learners, aiming to develop the best possible way to the teaching / learning process. Since play and play have always been a part of children’s lives, play activities are a great contribution to student progress, in which they learn in a pleasurable and natural way, gain experience and internalize external facts. With the significant role played by children’s education in children’s education, their practice is increasingly inserted in the educational units to contribute to and assist in the teaching / learning of the students. As a result, this research sought to analyze the teachers’ conception about the relevance of the use of playfulness as a didactic resource and teaching strategy for the cognitive development of students in early childhood education, checking with the teachers of early childhood education of a Municipal Center for Early Childhood Education (CMEI) of the Municipality of Umuarama – Paraná on the use of teaching / learning practice through play activities. Based on the methodology used, it was possible to identify the teachers’ conception regarding their understanding of playfulness and to emphasize the importance of this as a basis for early childhood education. Teachers acknowledge that playing favors the development of children, and they do not find it difficult to work using games as well as, it favors the inclusion of children with special needs. The teachers choose the games and toys that they will use thinking about the contents. In the design of the same the playful can be worked in any age group.
