dc.description.abstractThis work is aimed at the automation of experimental facilities for multiphase flow in pipes. The research herein presented possesses an entirely experimental character. An automation system for the flow of gas and liquid in an existing experimental rig at the Laboratory of Thermal Sciences, in Federal Technological University of Paraná will be proposed. The aforementioned system is composed of a computer program to monitor and control an experiment, as well as alarms and routines to save data in files. An electric valve to control the flow of gas will be mounted, and an electronic circuit to control the flow of fluid using a commercial frequency inverter will be assembled. The flow of liquid will be measured with a commercial Coriolis flow meter, whilst the gas flow will be measured by means of regular orifice plates. The present work also proposes the use of low-cost, easy-to-install components that can be readily found and purchased in our local market.
