dc.description.abstract | In situ cold recycling of asphalt pavements incorporating Portland cement has become a viable option for rehabilitation of roads because it is a cheaper and faster method than the conventional implementation of a lane and with less environmental impact. The process of deep recycling is used by the Curitiba City Hall since the year 2011, and is estimated to have been recycled more than 145 km of pavements in the city and metropolitan area. This research analyzes the recycling method used by the city hall, which is performed with the use of recycling asphalt machines, and consists in transforming a bituminous surface treatment (BST) in a cement treated base for implementation of a new asphalt pavement base. The analysis was performed in several steps: characterization of soil-asphalt mixture obtained by the recycler; compared the process with the Service Specification 167/2013, DNIT, which stipulates the guidelines for this type of recycling; evaluation of the results of strength tests obtained in the specimens produced in the laboratory; and evaluation of the deflections obtained with Benkelman beam in stretches of streets before and after recycling. As a result, through suggestions, are expected to provide improvements to the recycling process performed by the municipal government. | |
