dc.description.abstractSurveys show that most of the population is overweight, including children and adolescents. For this reason, health and education agencies have shown concern and suggest preventive measures in order to stop the early development of heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, etc. In this context, the promotion of health practices in the school environment has been strongly recommended, Education and Food / Nutrition arises in order to develop in students the knowledge and skills of discernment, so they can choose consciously, with regard to their eating habits. In order to describe a reflection on Nutrition Education in the school environment, this study aimed to report a brief history and discuss the role of school and family in this learning process, focusing on the importance of integrating this theme as part of the discipline of Science.
