dc.description.abstractMethodologies proposed by environmental economics are widely applied to capture the economic value of environmental and natural resources when these are not assigned market value. In this sense, this research subverts this logic by the employ of production function methods, characterized by the marginal productivity method, estimating the direct use benefits generated by using water as an input for the drinking water Production from the Tibagi River Basin (TRB), which was analyzed segmented in two regions: Tibagi High and Tibagi Low. Through the monetary reports analysis and the data collection with responsible for the economic sector of the company used as parameter, it was possible to obtain the production function and the supply curve, allowing the calculation of the producer surplus that translates the resource economic value expression utilizing as an input. From the TRB water resources potential extraction, always with the intention of maintaining its sustainability, the direct value calculation of the basin water became possible. The economic value result in 3.3 billion reais for the Tibagi Superior region and 4.8 billion reais for the Tibagi Inferior region, totalizing 8.1 billion reais. Thus, with these results, this research proposes the dissemination of a lesser use method, efficient in capturing the environmental economic value utilizing as input in another production of goods, with easy replicability and its immediate result potential use by agents involved directly or indirectly in this management/use of water resources.
