dc.description.abstractThe electrical minifurnace described in this dissertation was development with the goal of optimize the fabrication and test of fiber optics devices that needs high temperature. The optimize is obtained by conning the largest portion of the heat in region of 1 cm along the axial direction of the fiber. Therefore, even when the minifurnace operates in the maximum temperature (1000 °C) the fiber optic section outside the heating chamber does not become brittle with thermal stress resulting from the process. The minifurnace has a man-machine interface and a digital controller, which is responsible for sampling and controlling the temperature inside the heating chamber, that were developed specifically for this application. Lastly, the results obtained of the heat distribution in the heating chamber, repeatability and of the error in permanent regime confirm that the minifurnace reached its objectives.
