dc.description.abstract | After passing through the frying process the oil undergoes degradation due to contact with air, food and high temperatures occurring physical and chemical changes in its composition. Becoming thus a residue that is often disposed of improperly in the environment. Combined with the effects of overuse of fossil fuels, we studied in this work, the possibility of residual oil recycling frying intended it for use as feedstock for biodiesel production. The residual frying oils have undergone a process of purification with activated carbon in order to remove free fatty acids present in the oil. Different oil samples with different activated charcoals were tested. Purification using activated carbons and parameters used to establish the efficacy of their use were acid number analysis and oil of iodine value before and after the use of coal. Demonstrating reduced acid value initially 4.60% without going through the process of purification and after purification with activated carbon had acid value equivalent to 4.13%. Some parameters such as stirring time with coal, agitation temperature and mass of coal were studied best results. After optimization of the parameters was not possible to obtain the purified oil biodiesel as much as the oil without purification, but studies with other parameter settings or other adsorbents should be performed to obtain better results due to the great potential that the adsorbents may have on oil purification residual frying. | |
