Principais doenças que acometem cães: conhecer para prevenir

Abstract

Throughout the process of domestication of dogs, there was a great change in the behavior of these animals. In order to avoid mistreatment, abandonment and proliferation of diseases, responsible custody is essential. One of the characteristics of responsible custody is the prevention of diseases that caused by virus, bacterias, worms and protozoa. The present research looked for a proportion, by questionnaires, of cases of diseases in dogs of Francisco Beltrão, in the southwest of Paraná, determining the most frequent diseases in the veterinary clinics. The questionnaire consisted of objective and descriptive questions and applied in the veterinary clinics between August and September 2018. The questionnaires also applied to propose educational measures about responsible custody of dogs to alert and prevent the proliferation diseases. The data analyzed with mixed methods showed that the main diseases that occur in the city is parvo and cinomose. The answer by the questionnaire also showed that tutor don’t act with diseases prevention measures, like vaccination or forward to the clinic at the first symptoms in the animal. The collected information was part of an informative material directed to the tutors and the community, to disseminate the knowledge obtained in the research. The material contains the prophylaxis measures to sensitize responsible custody and animal welfare produced in a folder format and made available digitally.
