dc.description.abstractThe broad theme of this essay is the process of literature reader formation. This theme is looked at by focusing on the relationships between the culture industry and the school in terms of how they relate to one another, both positively or negatively, in the reader's formation process. The goal is to contribute to the debate on reader training, through critical reflections achieved by bibliographical research and systematizing of perspectives. The results of the reflections indicate that one of the most relevant concerns of educators in the process should refer to the selection of products from the culture industry to be adopted in the classroom, given that such industry is adult-centered and ideologically charged, and sees the consumer (that is, the student) as an object rather than a subject.
