dc.description.abstractbean, and the attack of this directly affects the quality of the beans, making them unviable for consumption and commerce. In this way, this work had the objective of evaluating the resistance of different genotypes of Phaseolus vulgaris, being used 3 genotypes for the accomplishment of the experiments. The experiment was conducted at the Laboratory of Entomology and Molecular Biology of the Academic Department of Agricultural Sciences of the UTFPR, Campus Pato Branco. The climatic conditions of the experiment were 25 ± 2 ºC, UR of 60 ± 10%, with Acanthoscelides obtectus in stored beans with moisture of 13%. The bean grains were initially purged and kept refrigerated. Twenty A. obtectus unsexed were used to infest 40 g of beans. These grains were kept in plastic containers with a capacity of 140 ml. Seven days after the infestation, the adult insects were removed from the containers. The analyzes of the total number of insects, the sexing of Acanthoscelides obtectus, male and female weight, total insect weight and final weight of infested bean grains were done after 25 days of F1 generation infestation. Ten replicates were used for each genotype evaluated. The results were submitted to analysis of variance. However, the results were similar for all traits analyzed, showing that the IPR Curio, IPR Colibri and Pérola bean genotypes presented resistance levels similar to Acanthoscelides obtectus, thus not allowing the selection of a resistant genotype. The biological aspects evaluated still suggest that the type of resistance involved does not occur due to antibiosis, since there was no effect on the weight, number and longevity of A. obtectus.
