The energy crisis by the country experienced in recent years, due to the predominance of hydraulic and thermal sources, brought to the fore the debate on the scope of the Brazilian energy sources. The latest capacity data realize than hydroelectric and thermal are still majoritarian arrays in the system, yet the alternative energy sources are gaining space, even shy, the national scene. This paper presents a literature review of an alternative source of energy is gaining notoriety in than several countries around the world, but in Brazil is still a bet, the heliothermic source or CSP (Concentrated Solar Power). Its working principle is with the use of mirrors that reflect the solar radiation in a timely receiver in order to heat a fluid that will exchange heat with the water, thus generating steam and drive a turbine which triggers a generator, a process similar to a conventional model of a thermoelectric plant , but with another array. The heliothermic source consists of four models of technology, which are being addressed separately throughout the work, which shows its working principle and its advantages. We sought to identify with the help of other work and research, Brazilian regions that are favorable to the implementation of these sources, regions such that as shown on the work, are the regions semi arid region northeastern, the Brazilian midwest and also the southeast. It concludes that Brazil has a rich potential for implementing heliotermics sources because their region is richer in terms of solar radiation than even countries that already use this source on a large scale. However you will need to invest in press technology is concerned and greater incentive industry.
