Abstract

Maintenance in the industrial environment is essential to ensure the availability of the entire production system, people's safety and the best operation of equipment. In addition, incorrect functioning often brings great losses to companies. Steam traps are extremely important elements in steam systems and are often not given adequate attention. This work presents the development of the methodology focused on reducing losses in steam lines, through preventive and predictive maintenance. To do so, it was necessary to map all traps in the factory, identifying them with tag patterns, collecting technical information from the traps, defining strategies and inspection and maintenance intervals, focusing on the use of thermography and ultrasound. Finally, it was validated through instruments and automation, the average increase of 10% in condensate return and average boiler efficiency of 0.60 in the months evaluated.
