Nowadays in the field of Civil Construction, the only way to visualize the traditional method of time management is through the Gantt diagram, which is comped by bars, that represent the duration of the activities of the work, and arrows, which indicates the precedences. With that tool it is made possible to see the stages of the work while it develops, but with some limitations. As a visual alternative, the promissor Building Information Modeling, BIM, conveniently used as a 3D project’s compatibility tool, obtains a new dimension, the 4D, when added a predefined work schedule within the model. The methodology of this academic work tries to comprehend the similarities between these methods of time management by studying a case study - an unifamiliar BIM model with integrated executive projects provided by a specialized project management’s company. Conclusively, the BIM process needs the traditional time management methods to create a schedule of the work and with that the simulations are able to be made to help the planner with a virtual animation of the defined schedule. New research and study’s ideas are being developed for the computerized process regarding work’s monitoring through the BIM’s philosophy, as well as the other dimensions available in the process.
