dc.description.abstractThe objective of this study is to identify the aspects that set the actions in the Corporate Education (CE) process, within the Human Resources (HR) vision of an iron and steel industry. The following question is introduced here to give direction to the research: Which are the aspects that set the actions in the CE process within the HR vision of an iron and steel enterprise? The theory references deal with the following matters: CE with focus on continuous learning and the types of environment in which CE can be developed – training and development center and corporate university. With regard to the methodological procedures, the research is classified as having an inductive methodology, an applied nature, and a qualitative approach to its problematic matter. It is also classified as exploratory with regard to its objectives and as a case study in relation to its technical procedures. The research uses two scripts of half-structured interviews to collect data: documentation analyses and observation. The target public of the research is composed of nine co-workers of the Training and Development Sector and internal consultants of the HR Management of the enterprise. To extract the answers from the interviews, the methodology of content analyses was used. A big enterprise of the iron and steel industry type was selected in the Brazilian Southern Region (“Região Sudeste”). The results obtained indicate the aspects that set the actions in the corporate education process within the human resources vision of the researched enterprise, such as financial support allocated to the development of skills programs, the high level of support from high and medium management, the point being made of convincing the shareholders that it is necessary to invest in co-workers training to increase production, the positive acceptance within the enterprise of a corporate culture in the development of skills programs, and the presence of a specific sector for the development of the CE.
