Análise do carvão vegetal para uso doméstico

Abstract

In this work, samples of charcoal destined for domestic use, produced by the company Carvão Ipiranga LTDA and marketed in the Region of Campos Gerais, state of Paraná, were analyzed in order to verify the quality of the product in relation to the immediate chemical analysis, which measures the moisture content, fixed carbon, volatile materials and ashes, and compare with the standards required by Premium Seal - SP. The mean values determined are between 4,54 and 4,98% for moisture, 70,43 and 71,87% for the fixed carbon content, 25,61 and 28,40% for the content of volatile materials and 1,17 and 2,52% for the ash content. They are compatible with those found in the literature, however the product does not meet the established requirements. FTIR analyzes were also performed, enabling the characterization of the spectra found and proving the occurrence of carbonization in the same temperature range, and MEV, where the appearance of retraction slits occurred and the structure of sample 3 deteriorated, possibly caused by high rate of heating.
