dc.description.abstractThere’re several ways to monitor the asset condition of the railway superstructure. Visual inspection, manual instrument measurements, measurements with machine of way or sensors installed in the railway network. Associated with these methods, it’s paramount to have parameters that determine actions to be implemented, which can be immediate or programmed, with common objectives between cost and operational safety. This work uses results from three temperature sensors installed in Estrada de Ferro Vitória a Minas associated with the failure mode with buckling of rail occurring during periods of high temperature incidence. The methodology used is oriented by the Life Data Analysis Method, where the failure is correlated not with time but with the maximum temperature recorded on the day of failure. The purpose of the analysis is to determine the probability of occurrence of buckling in function of the maximum temperatures recorded in the rails and the trigger temperature to move the preventive inspection in the railroad.
