dc.description.abstractThe buriti (Mauritia flexuosa), a member of the Palmae family, is one of the most beautiful palms, whose usefulness goes from the roots to the leaves. The fruit produced by it has aroused interest in its composition, containing important antibacterial, antioxidant and healing activities. Possessing applications in pharmaceutical and food areas. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of buriti extract on bacterial biofilms of S. aureus and Salmonella Typhimurium, formed and in formation. Biofilms were formed 24 hours after treatment with buriti extract at different times, the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 1xCIM and 2xCIM were analyzed. Sub-MIC (½ of MIC and ¼ of MIC) of the extract in biofilms in formation were also analyzed and the viability of the formed biofilm was determined. The analyzes were performed in triplicates in four different replicates and all tested concentrations of buriti extract showed antibiofilm activity.
