The aim of this research paper is to investigate why some exhibits use scenography as expository language. This reason, it will be studied and analyzed the history of art exhibitions, museums and art, in order to understand at what particular point in time the scenography gains relevance in this context. It is argued that the historical study of this subject is important because the exhibitions are part of a context that goes beyond the exhibition area of a gallery: they are part of the aestetics, arts system. As one of the main conclusions of this brief that the new exhibition arrangements, wether they adopte the scenography, show every sign of having arisen throughout the artistic movements and the questioning includ the concept of what is art. With this in mind, some analogies between the historical aspect and the peculiarities that characterize art exhibitions today will be made, in order to understand which of these componentes were employed by the exhibition room so that they made scenography one of its language. Overall the results of this investigation show that scenography, as an element of the theatrical universe, was exploited by the exhibition space for being a communicative connection between art and spectators, irrespective of wether the topic of an exhibition is a collection of artifacts or the life of an artist.
