This study aimed to evaluate the effect of including the mushroom Ganoderma lucidum in diet of Japanese quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica) on production efficiency and food, with a view to possible use of it as a growth promoter. The experiment was conducted on the premises of UNEPE (Teaching and Research Unit) on small animals UTFPR campus of Dois Vizinhos. The experimental diet containing the mushroom Ganoderma lucidum was supplied to the birds in a completely randomized design with four levels of Ganoderma: 0%, 0.5%, 1% and 1.5%, five replicates and eight birds per repetition, total of 160 birds in the experiment. Influence was observed in the levels of G lucidum on feed intake, the other biological indices, feed conversion, egg weight and egg mass there were no statistical differences, in hematopoietic parameters statistical difference in the percentage of heterophils, percent lymphocytes and heterophil lymphocyte between treatments. It is concluded that the diet with the highest level of inclusion of G lucidum was the one with the lowest feed intake, and lower heterophil: lymphocyte, showing a lower degree of stress in birds.
