Estudo das adaptações necessárias no porto de contêineres da Embraport para a atracação do navio Maers Triple-e

Abstract

The worldwide trend of high demand for containerized cargo, allied with the low efficiency condition of the Brazilian ports and the increasing size of container ships due to their economy of scale, highlights the need to adapt Brazilian ports to receive Mega ships. This adaptation aims to harness the Brazilian potential in order to increase its competitiveness in the international trade. Thus, the current work aimed to raise the adaptations só that the existing port of Embraport, located in Santos, can receive the mega ship Maersk Triple E. For that purpose the effects of its mooring on the quay structure were analysed, based on data of the local structure, in order to identify the key interventions to make the operation executable. The obtained results revealed that the quay draft and fenders need to be adapted to make the quay fit, but that the container handling equipment, the portainer, does not have dimensions compatible with the dimensions on the ship.
