dc.description.abstractThe transition metal ions, as Mn and Co, generally forms many stable complexes due to the fact they don´t have the completely filled d orbital. When these metals bind to compounds polydentate, as the 8-quinolinol, form structures more stable that the complex, designations of chelates. The technique of spectrophotometry is commonly used to determine concentrations of metal ions present in different solutions, providing information about the structures of the complexes and the energies of the orbital. This work aims to study obtaining and characterization of Mn e Co chelates with 8-quinolinol by the spectrophotometry in the visible region. With the completion of this work, it was found that there was a probable complexation of cobalt with the ligand, fact that can´t observed for manganese.
