dc.description.abstractThe present work aims to develop an alternative media for abrasive flux machining, a finishing process used in highly complex geometries. Being a low-cost media constituted by natural oils (babaçu coconut and moringa), plaster and silicon carbide, allows to explore the oil production in the Brazil’s northeast by the use of a few explored plant until now. It was found a proportion for the media components, the media was made and the process was realized on 45 proof bodies, to ensure repeatability. Therefore, this made the possible the study of the abrasive media efficiency on three different materials with varied numbers of cycles. A reduction about 90% in the toughness was observed, however, it was observed that the drill marks caused by the manufacturing process of the proof bodies were not fully eliminated.
