Abstract

This study presents the importance of a belt conveyor in the steel making industrial production process. It highlights the contribution of the roller in the reliability of this equipment, the inherent costs of maintenance and the impacts in case of a failure. It reports the lack of a consistent technical methodology for the maintenance of this component. It suggests the construction of a probabilistic reliability engineering model to support the maintenance management required for this item. It details the development of the model, from the choice of life data analysis tool to data collection and its treatment and processing. It presents the results found, the difficulties and constraints and the respective solutions. It concludes by recommending the probabilistic model and the correlation with the maintenance plan to be used.
