dc.description.abstractIn this work it was carried an historic-conceptual survey of some civilizations that had expressed partially or totally the citizenship concept proposed by the English professor Thomas Humprey Marshall. Also it is discussed the model of citizenship developed in Brazil since the imperial period up to the years after the redemocratization with the 1988 Federal Constitution. It is also studied the relation between the model of citizenship proposed in the 1988 Federal Constitution, 1996 Law of Guidelines and Bases of Education, National Curricular Guidelines and in the Curricular Guidelines of the State of Paraná and the role of the public education in the formation for the citizenship. The relation between the teaching of science in the primary school of the public network and the training of the students for the full exercise of citizenship was studied by the analysis of didactic books. In the didactic books it was carried a study of the proposed approach for the teaching of the theme of citizenship and it was also proposed ideas that could enrich the teaching for citizenship in the classroom. All the data discussed in this work were collected by the documental analysis of the legislations already mentioned and of didactic books used in the public education network. This work consists of a survey of qualitative data inherently political and of an ethical analysis of this data from point of view of the evaluation of the emancipation of individuals. This research has found an articulation for the formation for citizenship in the legislations, in the teaching of science in the primary school and in the didactic books studied. Based on the idea of the articulation of the scientific knowledge with the formation for citizenship several approaches were also suggested to be used in the classroom aiming the full development of citizenship.
