dc.description.abstract | Pets, especially dogs, are taking more and more attention within the home where they live. Concern about your health, the foods you should eat and, if appropriate, are the main questions of their owners. Overall, the population of these animals grows increasingly so, it is necessary to know if the ingested food is of good quality, if it is within the rules, meeting the needs, and consistent with the information described on the packaging. It is noteworthy that there are different life stages of dogs, and each phase needs a certain amount of nutrient, not result in further problems, such as obesity for example. Thus, this study aims to analyze the chemical composition of commercial pet food available in trade Dois Vizinhos/PR, for puppies and adults, and verify that the information in the analyzes coincide with the package. Finally, compare the results of different brands by statistical analysis. Feed samples from three brands will be collected for puppies and adults in the trade of the city, which were economic rations, premium and super premium. From there, the analysis will be made of dry matter, ether extract, ash, crude fiber and crude protein from the food laboratory of the Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná, Campus Dois Vizinhos. All analyzes will be done in duplicate, to have more accurate results. Significant differences were found between what was declared on the package and what was observed, mainly in the EE analysis, so that the values are smaller than stipulated, or that may interfere with the palatability of the ration. According to a statistical analysis, a mark that most stood out positively for one, obtaining the most adequate values of FB, PB, MM and EE, except in the variable moisture, in the quality obtained a last place. | |
