In the automotive environment, the presence of electronics systems is ever increasing; with this, the number of control units grows significantly and consequently, the complexity of the communication between them. This project is a proof of concept of a communications system based on communication over the power supply line with application to electrical control units of agricultural and construction machinery. The main goal is to develop a device able to transmit data between electronic units using the power supply line as communication channel. This device proposes to reduce harness weight on the machinery and costs by eliminating complex cables and installations. Besides, it will open new dimensions for agricultural and construction machinery electronics design. This technology allows the sharing of data and power on an electrical conductor once used only for power supply.
