dc.description.abstractCurrently, there are several initiatives concerning the continuing education of teachers to guide them on their importance so that they can always innovate their practice, both educational as specific knowledge in the area of Sciences. This research was developed through the application of questionnaires to science teachers of elementary school II, teaching staff of state schools and members of the Regional Education Center - Headquarters Two Paraná neighbors, with the aim of analyzing how is the continuing education of said core science teachers, identifying what are the selection criteria for the issue of continuing education thereof, and to identify the contribution of continuing education to the role of the teacher in the classroom. Subsequently, the questionnaires were analyzed according to the assumptions of content analysis in order to compare data to analyze the relationship between what is provided by public policies with what happens in practice in relation to the continuing education of science teachers, aiming commitment for the implementation of these proposals. It was obtained as a result that the State of Paraná provides continuing education for teachers. However, this training does not correspond to the expectations of professionals interviewed education. In addition, both the Regional Center of Education as teachers find it difficult to effect a continuing education quality, however the majority of teachers consider it very important.
