Lixo urbano como indicador social: um estudo de caso na cidade de Ubiratã - PR

Abstract

With increasing purchasing power and growing economy in Brazil, in recent decades there has been an increasing consumption especially in the food clothing and technology sector coupled to this growth also increased the generation of waste and urgency in the implementation of mitigation policies environmental social and economic impacts. This monograph has the main purpose to draw a profile of the type of waste that is generated in homes, hospitals and the city of Ubiratã industries - PR. And also show that waste generation is directly related to the purchasing power of the population in general, thus contributing to the society especially the youth to reflect on the rampant consumerism that is powered by alluding advertisements and even appealing in many cases. In this study used a questionnaire to assess the knowledge of the students involved. The results showed that 45 % of the population of Ubiratã-PR fits into the lower middle class and call that waste production is slightly below the national average for cities up to 200,000 habitants.
