dc.description.abstractThis work proposes to investigate the social practices, spaces and artifacts associated with the training of women in the course of Cutting and Sewing from their entanglement with domesticity at the Technical School of Curitiba between the 1940s and 1960s. In this context, the education to women reflected the social consensus of morals and was based on learning that valued domestic know-how. At the Technical School of Curitiba, the industrial course of Cutting and Sewing was directed exclusively to girls and presented as part of the curriculum disciplines that covered the educational practice of Home Economics, Technology and Practice of Sewing and Embroidery, Industrial Arts and Design Technician. Such knowledge was directly imbricated with knowledge related to the domestic space. From a qualitative approach, I try to understand what types of practices were taught and legitimized in the course of Cutting and Sewing, as the Technical School, through strategies of gender pedagogies, sought to teach and reinforce traditional conceptions of feminities such as care for the home and for the comfort, health and well-being of the family.
