dc.description.abstractCordel literature has unquestionable importance to society, as historical document, information source, entertainment, communication or scientific research. It is a literary genre, which is gaining visibility, becoming an expressive instrument in learning and teaching process in varied area of knowledge. Because of its characteristics, the range of contexts of use and the acceptation degree by many types of readers, emerges the need of organizing them. For that matter, Information Science is emphasized for include studies about tools, products and processes aimed to information thematic treatment which enable the description and informational representation with the purpose of facilitate the access of this literary genre. Therefore, the objective is to highlight the need of elaborate criteria to teach thematic representation of cordel pamphlets in Library Science courses, aiming to subsidize future librarians. By means of bibliographic study, it was observed that cordel pamphlets are texts with peculiar attributes which characteristics raise the complexity of the process, demanding actions which are different from those normally used in non-literary texts. For instance, the insertion of these pamphlets in more specific categories than those they are currently in. In addition, they have covers that present xylography, which need to be analyzed as image resources to represent the pamphlets content. Still in its initial stage, this study advocate the need of thinking about the necessity of adequate representation proceedings of informational objects from Information Science to the presented literary genre.
