dc.description.abstractAt the environment, the soil is one of the more complex elements and the lack of human compression has promoted the use and inadequate management, leading to pollution and degradation of this natural resource of essential importance for life. One way to approach the subject in everyday in order to minimize the problem is to work this theme in basic education schools, the contents programmatic of environmental education in an attempt to inform, sensitize and educate students about environmental problems related to bad use of the soil.Thus, this study aims to survey the teaching a soils is being worked in the public elementary schools, in State College elementary school Dois Vizinhos and Colégio Estadual Monteiro Lobato end Colégio Estadual de Dois Vizinhos.The development of this project is the evaluation of textbooks used by schools, interview with (a) teacher (a) Science of schools, evaluation questionnaire of students and theoretical and practical activity of content demanded by (a) teacher (the ). The project, questionnaires and Terms of Informed Consent (IC) were approved by the Ethics Committee. For science teachers, the sixth year of elementary school, It was assessed the experience of each of these on the ground subject and the level of knowledge they have to this approach in the classroom by participating in the research two teachers. The questionnaire administered to students in 6th year of both schools was to assess their knowledge about soils, analyzing the responses through the content analysis method (Bardin 2011) for descriptive questions and results in percentage of hit for the optional questions and answered the questionnaire 37 students. The textbook is the assessment of the contents presented on soils, checking that are covered all subjects that are recommended by PCN'S (National Curriculum Parameters) the discipline of Sciences and the books have errors or poorly presented languages. The results show that students have difficulty in some more pointed questions of the questionnaire, mainly related to erosion and have knowledge of the importance of soil for survival of living beings. As regards the questionnaire teachers, both consider that the textbook only includes the contents of soils, they are also interested in participating in a continuing education course on soil and in accordance with their training and experience will not find it difficult to address any matter related to soil in the classroom.
