| dc.description.abstract | The Brazilian furniture industry generates thousands of jobs and is also responsible for a high rate of accidents at work . Accordingly, we performed a case study in an industry of furniture industry in Curitiba / PR, where it was analyzed one of the most critical sectors in furniture: the painting booths, and the risks involved in the storage and handling flammable liquids. Initially, for the recognition of the risks involved, it is necessary to know some concepts related to flammable liquids, explosive atmospheres, static electricit , collective protection equipment (CPE's), personal protection (PPE) equipment, in addition to existing legislation. Then, based on the referenced studies was possible to evaluate the activities undertaken by workers, identifying the procedures, equipment, and materials susceptible to pose risks to health and integrity of the worker facilities. Information obtained during the theoretical and practical study allowed us to prove the non-compliance by the company, the legislation in force, exposing employees to unsafe working conditions, as well as providing risk of property damage. Finally, we present recommendations for adjustments to the working procedure in the painting booth, including the equipment and materials used, the training of staff, protective equipment in addition to structural changes intended to ensure safety in the development of activities. | |
